Survey Revived

1. What time is it? 4:41.47pm
2. What is your name? Christopher Robert Conyers
3. Any nicknames? None that have stuck.
4. Mothers name? Anna
5. What is your Favourite drink? On Saturday night Mike, Geoff Lucas and I had a fortified wine tasting evening. Robbie turned into a long, pointed polearm (ie, a pike) at the last minute, but we had fun anyway. The two port were really good, but the older one was nicer (surprise, surprise). The marsala was very sweet and also very nice. It goes superbly with dark chocolate. I very strongly recommend it! The muscat was probably my favourite, but only marginally. The sherry was very dry, and the only white fortified wine in our selection. It looked disturbingly like urine. It smelt disturbingly like urine. It tasted like it smelt. NEVER drink dry sherry. So after these tastings, combined with a previous similar evening involving whiskies, I have to conclude that my favourite beverage is beer. Fantastic as the muscat and ports were, beer is just the best.
6. Tattoos? None so far, but I would like to go to Edinburgh to see theirs. The marching bands are meant to be pretty good.
7. How much do you love your job-scale of 1 to 10? 7. It’s varied and generally interesting, but it’s still predominantly a desk job.
8. Birthplace: Bowral, NSW.
9. Favourite vacation spot: The best I’ve been to so far is Atutaki in the Cook Islands, but I like seeing different places so I don’t expect to go back any time soon. The lagoon is magnificent though. Very blue.
10. Ever been to Africa? No
11. Stolen any traffic signs? No, but there is a Conyers Street in Canberra that intersects with Wisdom St.
12. Ever been in a car accident? None whatsoever. The closest I’ve come was last week when a car came out of a semi-hidden side street along Barker Street and didn’t stop for me. They stopped just in time for me to skid past them on the wrong side of the road.
13. Croutons or Bacon bits? Caesar salad rocks. I had one last week where instead of dried bread for croutons, it was deep fried bread still soaked in oil. Tasted good, but may not have been so good for the old arteries. Or the younger ones. Bacon is probably even worse, so my vote is for bacon bits.
14. 2 Door or 4 Door car? 4 door. 2 doors is completely impractical, and as an engineer I must object to cars that require passengers to climb behind seats in order to reach their seat.
15. Salad Dressing? Why would I want salad dressing without salad? And if I have a salad, it’s contents will dictate the type of dressing I have, if any. For example, why would I put French dressing into a Caesar salad?
16. Favourite Pie: One with pastry holding in some sort of filling, preferably without too many mushrooms. Apple is good, but only if the mushroom content is in the vicinity of 0.
17. Dream car: Tough one. Either a helicopter or a space shuttle. If I’m limited to operating on the ground, a trained warhorse would be cool. Preferably a black stallion.
18. Favourite Movie? I saw the Empire Strikes Back on the weekend. Or was it Pirates of the Carribean 2? It’s hard to tell – leading woman in passionless relationship with boyish character, then she falls for a pirate, apparently against her better judgement, while two minor characters make comments off to the side. Meanwhile, the slightly boyish lead male has unresolved issues with his father, whose soul he intends to save from an apparently irretrievable situation. He attempts to do this under the guidance of a strange, difficult-to-understand character who lives in a swamp. Most of the action involves either fighting between ships or fighting with sabres.
19. Favourite Colour? The blue of the Atutaki lagoon.
20. Favourite Holiday? I’ll take anything! I’m going to Fiji and Noo Zulund at the end of the year.
21. Favourite Food? Chocolate. Preferably dark. (Goes well with muscat or marsala.)
22. Favourite day of the week? Saturday. There’s also a day in the Hobbit callendar that would be pretty cool. I think it’s called Yule. It doesn’t count as either part of a week or part of a month. It just is. (It’s also a day of feasting…)
23. Favourite brand of body soap? Soap?
24. Favourite TV show? Blackadder.
25. Toothpaste? Are there brands other than Colgate?
26. Most recently read book? Book 11 of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. I can’t remember what it’s actual title is…
27. Favourite Smell? Muscat smells pretty good.
28. What do you do to relax? Read, go to the movies, manipulate zeros and ones in such a way as to simulate the killing of virtual monsters with my virtual warrior (ie, play World of Warcraft)
29. Favourite Fast Food? Pepper steak and chips isn’t really fast food, but it has to get a mention.
30. When was your last hospital visit? Last Thursday I visited St Vincent’s hospital in Melbourne to inspect a mobile phone base station for work. Prior to that, I visited the casualty ward in Bowral hospital to have a tick removed from my stomach. The last time I spent a night in a hospital was also at Bowral hospital when I was a few days old.
31. Message to your friends reading this: Ay.
32. How do you see yourself in 10 years? With some sort of time machine. If the question is "how would I like to see myself in 10 years?", I would still like to use my eyes and a mirror. If the question is "what I would like to be doing in 10 years", sitting in heaven with all you guys after Jesus’ return would be a very attractive, if somewhat morbid, option. Otherwise, I don’t know.
33. What do you do when you are bored? Eat. I eat, therefore Roger is.
34. What presents do you enjoy receiving? Presents are all good, unless they’re those 70s looking brown mugs that I always expect to get from my grandfather (and often do get). Chocolate and wine are particularly attractive.
35. Furthest place you will send this message? Where is the outer boundary of the internet? Maybe the International Space Station… But if no-one reads this there, it might not count. Easiest to say Brisbane.
36. Who will respond the fastest? Based on the rate at which this blog fills up, Martyn will be first to respond in 163 days time.
38. What time is it now? 5:20.16
37. In the absence of the original question 37, I have created my own: What is your favourite shoe (singular)? My right Ugg boot.

AY!

Greetings and salutations.

Ay!

I'll answer the second question first since it will have the simplest answer.
I'm still at unsw and going into 3rd year pure maths (not quite the only one of us left doing an undergrad degree but most certainly the only one doing pure maths).

As for any major news and where i'm living; I have been considered worthy of joining the ranks of previous accomodational exiles for the sake of the gospel and am migrating northward about 100 metres.
In other words, I have been kicked out of Warrane and am moving into New College this year, so whatever else happens this year will be an interesting one. I'll be back in sydney later this week so i'll see some of you then, hope to see the rest of you at some stage soon too.

Fingal Revolutions

Hi guys! Yay for Marty getting this up and started again :)
My recent life has been pretty explained by my hubby man so not much detail needed from me here - I'm getting a haircut soon too, and salad is really getting boring. Susie might be coming to visit at Easter (yay!) and we're hoping to go to Blues and Roots at Byron for a day if anyone is keen? Pls remember Jase and I have a spare room with a bed, and also a blow up mattress, so there is plenty of room for ppl to visit for occasions such as that (or any occasion really!).
I've decided to get everyone keen for our next Fingal adventure so I'm doing some searching for some cool places atm (we'll probably need a few more double beds by then!):

Hey!

I hope everyone's year has started well. I'll answer Marty's questions before saying anything else:

1. Where do you live?
We both still live together. This is not uncommon for a married couple to do so. Although...

2. What are you doing?
Neither of us do drugs.

3. Any major news?
Amy got her legs waxed last night :)

Okay, so now that the silliness is out of the way... we both are still doing the same things. Amy is working with salads and makes babies (The Sims 2) and I work with galaxies and kill Horde (World of Warcraft).

Actually my Ph.D. project has taken quite a major turn in the last 2 months... which hasn't help preparing for this report/seminar/interview that I will have soon to confirm that my project is going somewhere. I figure the less the public knows about how I spends its tax-payers' money the longer I will have my job.

I'm sick today, so please pray for me (prayer transcends time - so pray even if you get this too late).

All in all, God is still great :)

Jason.

the doink

Hello,

I have been thinking about logging back in to see if any one still uses the blog. Martyn's email gave me the answer.

1. Where do you live?
I was housesitting for a while, but I started going on business trips and had to find someone else to look after the animals. So now I have settled in Kingsford. I am in a bording house on Anzac Pde. I live above the restaurant called "Tea Inn" next to the camping store. I think it is a very convienient location.

2. What are you doing?
I am working at KBR under the title "Safety and Risk Engineer". I am currently modeling a coal seam gas network located in Camden, using a programe called "Fluid Flow".

I am still working at Bras 'n' Things Bondi Junction. It keeps me busy and happy. I love working there because I get a 40% discount and look at pretty things all day.

3. Any major news?
I also need a hair cut and both my car and motor bike need new indicators.

Angus and I have moved the wedding back to 24th Feburary 2007.

My sister is now living in Sydney. Yay, I have discovered we are similar in many ways. It is soo much fun doing girly stuff agian with my little sis.

Martyn's Post

Hey folks,
I asked the rest of you to post here with what you're doing, etc. I'll start the ball rolling, shall I??

1. Where do you live?
I'm still living in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. I recently moved from Randwick to Kingsford.
It's much hotter in Kingsford (no ocean breezes).

2. What are you doing?
I'm working as a computer nerd in Pyrmont!! When I'm not sleeping.
Worked all last year on a project out at the airport, and am currently gearing up for a project down in Canberra for a few months. Giddyup!!

I'm still going to church @ Unichurch @ UNSW. Although I'm starting to feel old =)

3. Any major news?
Umm, I need a haircut?? Best I can think of is, I spent Christmas/New Year in Perth, cos my parents moved over there for a year (July 2005 - July 2006). w00t!!

Welcome back to the Wide World of Doink

Hey folks,
I thought I'd be the first to post in a while. I've been doing some research about our beloved doink, only to discover that it's other name is Tomaree Head. Just to help you reminisce, here are a few photos...
